Congratulations and thank you to Marti Fast, Fine Art instructor and director of the Ann Foxworthy Gallery, who has arranged for a group of Tibetan Buddhist monks to create a sand mandala painting. The mandala construction will be on display in the gallery Tuesday through Friday, October 15-18.
“We have an extraordinary opportunity to witness the creation of the sacred sand mandala at Allan Hancock College. Loving kindness is tangible and, once felt, is contagious. My sense is that many of us are thirsty for that to be part of our daily lives, and that will be what we will carry with us long after the millions of grains of colored sand are swept together into a pile.”
Under the direction of Marti, the Ann Foxworthy Gallery was voted the Best Place to View Art two years in a row by the Santa Maria Sun annual readers poll.
