Counseling Meeting November 14, 2025
Not too much this meeting.
Cal Poly SLO attended our meeting to provide updates about the 2+2 programs they are offering. On our campus they are now offering Business Administration with a Human Resources Management concentration and Sociology with an Individualized concentration. On the Cuesta College campus they are now offering a Liberal Studies major that will be taught on the Cuesta campus in-person two days a week 4-8pm and the other two days a week will be Zoom classes. This might appeal to our student because it would only require a two day a week commute rather than a 4-5 day a week commute and the classes are offered in the evenings which will accommodate students who are already working in a school environment.
The only other topic of discussion was the terminology which will now be used to label our dismissal and readmission process and actions counseling department wishes to take to ensure students do return after dismissal. Current percentage of students who return after dismissal is less than 5%. Many suggestions were made, but none solidified yet. This will be the main topic of conversation at the upcoming counseling department retreat at which all program specialists and counseling department faculty will be invited. Both part-time and full-time Counseling faculty are invited, but those from other departments such as LAP and EOPS will not be invited to attend this particular retreat..
