- Information and lengthy discussion on this AI Senate Resolution:
Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Instruction
Whereas the Chancellor’s Office for California Community Colleges supports human-centered AI grounded in equity, accountability, and student success1;
Whereas, AI can be considered a tool, like early calculators and computers;
Whereas, generative AI has proliferated across all manner of technologies, both academic and general;
Whereas, the function of Academic Freedom allows faculty to allow or disallow AI use in their classroom;
Therefore, be it resolved, that AI in Instruction is at the sole discretion of the instructor of the course;
Be it further resolved, that faculty will explicitly state their AI policy to students;
Be it further resolved, that faculty are not compelled to use a particular AI tool or app even if provided by the District or the Chancellor’s Office;
4. The CCAP Conversation continues on with a discussion on Equivalency for Faculty Positions.
5. Plenary Report: Much discussion at Plenary on AI and academic integrity.
