Student Services Council meeting Feb 4 2026
Notes from Student Services Council
February 4, 2026
- UPDATE: Automatic Enrollment from the Waitlist + Enrollment in Week 1 without Add Codes (DV)
- Erica Bierly is the supervisor for FYE (First Year Experience). Getting office set up (second floor of building A) and gearing up to recruit their fall cohort.
- Proposal to Change the Grade Submission Timeline (DV).
- Currently, grade changes are limited to 120 days following the end of the term.
- Research was done over 44 California Community Colleges and found a variety of timelines, with the majority using more than a 120-day limit. Mean 15 ½ months, median 1 year.
- Note that there is no regulatory requirement under Title 5 mandating a 120-day limitation.
- Proposal was to change our limit to within one year from the end of the term in which the grade was assigned, with extensions beyond one year in extenuating circumstances.
- BP’s and AP’s under review, Most of the changes are “league language” as recommended by Community College League of California. (https://www.ccleague.org/) please bring feedback to next meeting:
- 3436 AP Hazing
- 5700 BP Athletics and 5700 AP Athletics
Upcoming Items:
- BP/AP 5012 International Students
- BP/AP 5530 Student Rights and Grievances
- BP 6911 Student Housing Partnership
Respectfully submitted,
Joan Bergstrom Smith
