Student Learning Council Committee Meeting, 11/10/25
Good morning all,
Student learning council met yesterday afternoon, Tuesday November 10, 2025. The big issue that keeps coming up here and at Academic Senate is CCAP enrollment and how to ensure that classes taught at the high schools meet AHC standards. As time goes on, the full-time faculty bargaining unit will be addressing how to deal with evaluations and trainings of instructors at the high schools.
As has been pointed out at Senate, and I brought it up again yesterday, concurrent enrollment in the high schools poses a threat to ALL faculty, but especially part time faculty. We are the ones who will suffer the most if our courses keep getting pushed to the high schools. I encourage, as do the rest of the SLC, to keep pushing back at this within our departments and talk it up among colleagues. The task force for CCAP has been established, and they welcome any and all input on this as well.
Another issue that’s relevant to us as PT faculty is the hope to have more PD opportunities on equitable grading in the spring. There was a decent turnout on this in the fall, and LeeAnne has said to Mary Patrick she’d like to see for of this on campus.
Have a great meeting today.
Chris
