Mackenzie Greely: Recycling green waste How do we institutionalize some of these processes – POST consumer waste for GREEN waste.
Gerald Domingues: acknowledged the reason we have different consistency groups represented.
Need for Recycling cans –
- Securing the equipment is facilities side. Getting the recycling containers into the workrooms…
- Need to educate the college community – how to.
- Need to write for Grant Money
- His personnel does not have time to separate trash…
- Recycling potential problem – for inside- people who take their cans home, do not want to have to separate and not be able to take home: the funds currently are used for pay for new trash cans and signage.
Mackenzie Greely: stating it is going from the State, so why not be proactive
Education materials is free from the city all we have to do is request them.
Rosabeth – Consider including Soft plastic to be on the cutting edge (ex: surrounding cases of water) Ablitt’s dry cleaner in SB is wanting to dovetail/ work with SBCC
Harrison Bros – organic food waste ??? – Rosabeth will follow up

Gerald Questions: Who’s going to collect it, How will we collect it, where will it be held/ handled.
Item #4 Recycle Bins – Workrooms
Follow up from previous: 12 triple spot containers available for workrooms – Labels: glass, plastic, and cans
Discussion ensued as to where to put these. Many recommendations by the committee. Rosabeth asked if any were to be shared with the LVC. Gerald stated yes.

- Earth Day Events – Wednesday, April 24 Hailey Liles, Student Rep will check with student group
- AHC Arbor Day, Friday, April 26
- CycleMaynia – Friday, May 8 : Ride your bicycle to work/ school Day

Other –
Rosabeth asked about monarch garden. Esp for LVC (as of last year a poluniator garden was put in on the Santa Maria campus). Rosabeth asking for LVC – CA poppies and milkweed – possible the courtyard area
Alicia Fox / Erin Krier – have “checked all the boxes” with the student garden, but have not gotten the designation. Rosabeth will follow up with information.
